The Official Rebirth

A brief overview of the new website and what is in store for the next few weeks. With a boat now, a new crew member and a departure date quickly approaching there is much excitement!

Well I am finally back! I have so many things to update you on that this will just be an introduction to the new site.  First and foremost, welcome!  I have slaved away for what feels like hundreds of hours (and probably is) to build this new platform from the ground up.  Sorry, Wordpress, you were a little bit of a resource hog and slow to load and as my engineering professor always said, if you don't like it, then make it better.  I hope you enjoy as I continue to build it out and add content.  If you have any suggestions please let me know in the comments below.  Here are a few updates that I will fill you in on more detail later:

  • I purchased a boat a little over a month ago in Virginia and will update in a separate post.  She will have her own blog section to track the progress of the refit, repairs, etc.
  • I have taken on another crew member.  A close friend (more like family) has decided to join me on this crazy adventure and is going to assist in the refit. We are definitely of the same cloth.

Now for the rundown of the new website.  The layout should be friendly with all of your devices from your phone to computer.  You will find that there are, at the moment, four types of content; photos, videos, blog posts, and quotes.  I am hoping to add photo galleries in the near future.

Videos: Among the videos you will find a variety of original content.  My passion has always been videography.  Now that I have dissolved my company and gone back to freelance work, I have more free time to work on the docu-style web series and other video projects that I have planned for the adventure.

Photos: I am in no way a professional photographer and I have always maintained that there is a distinct difference between a videograper and photographer.  That being said, I have been learning DSLR's lately in my search for a compact system to document everything.  It has been a relatively smooth transition and anytime I have a cool shot to share you will see it posted.

Blog: I plan on using the blog personally as well as keeping track of the progress of the journey and refit of the vessel.  There is also the possibility that there will be more writers contributing as I have many friends who are already out wandering the earth.  I am sure they would love to share their experiences.

Quotes: Sometimes we can find enlightenment and motivation in the words of others.  I will ocassionaly share the words of wisdom that I come across.
